Job Fair 2019 to unearth "a world of opportunities"

For Release Upon Receipt - Friday, February 22, 2019

A world of opportunities in today’s job and career fields will be unearthed during the Office of Student Services’ fifth annual job fair, to be held on March 7, 2019 under the Graduation Tent.

The revamped all-day event is designed as an invigorated effort to support the UWI’s mission “to advance learning, create knowledge and foster innovation for the positive transformation of the Caribbean and the wider world.”

The tent will be divided into various hubs, catering for diverse post-education pathways. These are:

  • An entrepreneurial hub featuring local companies that assist with the development of entrepreneurial ventures.
  • Community builders highlighting non-governmental organisations and supporting agencies to equip students to join, start or work in these environments.
  • Business development comprising careers in the financial, legal, human resources and marketing sectors.
  • Innovator’s spot showcasing careers in renewable energy, information technology, biochemistry, medical technologies, and physics.
  • Government and Development hub featuring careers related to the public sector, education, sociology, psychology and social work.
  • International space highlighting opportunities on and off campus that support foreign language development and cultural exposure.
  • Mentorship Corner filled with workshops and inspiration talks on topics such as emerging financial technologies, getting started on startups, linking passion with business and accessing global markets. Guest speakers include Selwyn Cambridge (Ten Habitat), Julie Turney (Hyuna International), Jameela Hollingsworth (The HR Boss) and Dominique Osbourne (

There will also be an executive photo booth, which will allow students the opportunity to have a professional photo taken in order to enhance job seeking and self-promotion activities.
